Founder and Editor, myCAhub
Muhammed Ismail Bulbulia is the founder and editor of myCAhub, a Proudly South African start-up that creates software solutions for CAs(SA) and aims to make financial literacy more accessible to everyday South Africans.
A keen entrepreneurial streak, coupled with a zeal for solving problems, led Muhammed Ismael to launch myCAhub after serving his articles as part of the financial services audit team at Deloitte.
In just over one year under his sole directorship, myCAhub has developed and launched three original software solutions tailormade for CAs(SA) to rave reviews, with their flagship CPD Toolkit product currently being used by Transaction Capital, SA Taxi and the Wits School of Accountancy, as well as a number of other CAs and other financial professionals for their comprehensive CPD compliance.
Having realised the value of a background in financial education when it came to better decision-making and providing unique opportunities from his own life experiences, Muhammed Ismail set out to make financial literacy more accessible to as many South Africans as possible also under the banner of myCAhub, initially focusing on simplifying technical jargon related to tax and other financially relevant topics by producing and publishing creative infographics.
The positive feedback received on myCAhub’s original content fuelled the development and launch of a free financial literacy club at St John’s College, which is hosted and presented weekly by Muhammed Ismail and has a distinct curriculum targeted at school students. In this vein, myCAhub has also hosted free financial literacy workshops for SJC Foundation students from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds as well as paid financial literacy workshops open to the public, with more than 120 total attendees and full proceeds of over R6 000 from ticket sales being donated directly to the Thuthuka Bursary Fund.
As a nod to the remarkable progress made in less than two years of operation, myCAhub was selected as a Top 16 finalist from over 1 000 South African small businesses in the 2022 Engen Pitch and Polish competition.
At just 27, Muhammed Ismail revels in being a CA and all the associated challenges and feels as if he is just getting started. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing and spray-painting street art murals.
